Development of Donetsk and Lugansk regions innovation potential within interregional economic integration of Ukraine

Abstract

In this paper, by studying the main indicators of socio-economic and technological development assessed level of innovative activity of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, presented their place in rankings of investment attractiveness and competitiveness of individual regions of the country. Analyzed the current state of scientific and technical base, scientific and research infrastructure of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. Considered quantitative and qualitative results of innovation activity of studied regions. Presented proportion of organizations that are engaged in technological innovation in Rostov, Belgorod and Voronezh regions of Russian Federation, which have common borders with the studied regions and are of greatest interest in terms of cooperation in innovation sphere. The main problems in the way of intensification of economic innovation component are investigated, some solutions are offered. The most promising vectors of development in the direction of strengthening their innovation capacity are presented. The study looks at the prospects for greater innovation potential of Donetsk and Lugansk regions in the context of different vectors of Ukrainian integration policy, in particular, cooperation with the European Union and the Customs Union.
