Abstract

We studied the current policies for sustainable development in the context of metallurgical companies increase their international competitiveness. The dynamics of regional and national markets steel and iron ore. Concluded that in 2014 is expected to increase demand for steel in India - 5.6%, in the USА - 3.0%, in Central and South America - 5.0%, in Brazil - 3,8%. Despite the improving economic situation in Japan in 2013, in 2014 the demand for steel is expected to fall by 1.6%. In the EU -27 reduction in consumption of steel due to the fall in the main consuming sectors has extended the fall in 2013. Despite the decline in demand for steel in Ukraine, steel consumption in the CIS countries is forecast to grow by 3.0 %, reaching 58.9 million tons in 2013 due to the rise in Russia. Author noted that the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) (2010) in his report Vision-2050 predicts a new stage in the life cycle of the manufacturing industry, aimed at the dematerialization of production and advanced service system. Concluded that at the level of the country and sectors of its economy, the implementation of sustainable development policies aimed at resource, today is only capable of generating competitive advantages of the state.
